What can acupuncture do for me?

Chinese Medicine consists of many therapies that restore the body to balance. Acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and body-mind healing such as Qigong and tai chi.

In earlier times, the Chinese believed in living in harmony with nature rather than against it. Water, wood, fire, earth and metal were the five elements that existed together in a dynamic interchange of Yin and Yang, hot and cold, excess and deficiency. These elements also exist within the body as heat, fluids, bone, flesh, blood and breath.

Qi is the force that governs the elements and is at the root of all life. It is similar to what we call physics in modern times, both intangible and physical. It runs in pathways up and down the body, sometimes intersecting, a complex system of rivers with dam gates that open into the adjoining streams and rivulets. When a dam is stuck, it must be released so that vital substances can be restored to balance, not unlike the web of arteries, veins, blood vessels or nerve pathways. During a treatment, a needle is inserted into a specific point on the body to activate the Qi, organs, and vital substances into harmony.
